The Back Country Horsemen are a group within an organization that keep these Virginia Highlands trails in good functioning order. They have improved and even times rerouted several eroded and damaged trails over the years. The best part is that they are catering to the equestrian use of these trails! When do you ever see that?!! 

These people are my friends and fellow riders along the trail. These locals give it their all to continuing the use of trails that would otherwise be lost to the average user. For these trails, they have improved so much that those that rode last year will notice a large difference in the removal of a washout on the way to Collins Cove Horse Camp. I encourage you to browse their site, send them a few dollars or join the cause in your area. It's a thankless job and they do it with expertise and class. All their work stands the test of time and is there for years to come. We couldn't be more blessed to ride on trails that they frequent.
